Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC News Release
Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC fell 3-1 to Phoenix Rising FC in the desert on Wednesday night.
Phoenix opened the scoring in the 35' when #8 Diego Gomez made a pass to #7 Ihsan Sacko inside the box. Sacko took a shot that got past goalkeeper #1 Christian Herrera to put the Rising up 1-0.
With the Switchbacks looking to pick up some momentum heading into halftime, #27 Juan Tejada found #11 Bryce Jamison, in his first match with the club since being acquired via loan. Jamison then connected with #10 Adrien Perez inside the six yard box where Perez lifted a shot over the head of goalkeeper #1 Patrick Rakovsky and into the back of the net to level the match at 1-1 and mark Perez's second consecutive match with a goal.
Phoenix retook the lead in the 72' after #13 Jean Moursou delivered a ball to the center of the box that deflected off Switchbacks #5 Matt Mahoney and crossed the goal line for an own goal, putting the hosts up 2-1.
The Rising added one more late in the match after #11 Gunnar Studenhofft gained possession and found the back of the net to give Phoenix a 3-1 lead in the 90+1'.
Colorado Springs finished the match with 56.1% possession. #14 Duke Lacroix won all three of his tackles, and Jamison made an impact in his Switchbacks debut with an assist and two shots.
The Switchbacks will look to get back in the win column when they take on El Paso Locomotive FC at home this Saturday, August 22. Stay tuned for more updates and coverage, and be sure to follow us on social media @switchbacksfc or visit our website for the latest news and information.
