
Sweet Louie Making a Stop in Elkhart to Sing National Anthem

Elkhart, IN- Sweet Louie of "The Checkmates" is making a stop in Elkhart this Saturday to sing the National Anthem at the Express' game against the Elgin Racers.
Sweet Louie and his partner Sonny Charles have been entertaining crowds all around the world for the past four decades. Sweet Louie's voice may sound familiar after you hear him on Saturday; he has lent his vocal talents to Toyota, Kool-Aid and Bic Pens. "The Checkmates" are based out of Las Vegas, but they have played at many other venues, such as, Madison Square Gardens, the Oakland Coliseum, Boston Gardens, and the late Market Square Arena that was once home to the Indiana Pacers.
"The Checkmates" hits include, "Black Pearl", and "Put It In a Magazine". The duo has also appeared on a number of television shows: The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, the Ed Sullivan Show, American Bandstand, and Soul Train.
The Elkhart Express are back at home (North Side Gym) this Saturday to take-on the Elgin Racers; doors open at 6:00 p.m. and tip-off is 7:15 p.m.
