MOOSIC, PA (August 7, 2026) - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders were defeated 13-5 by the Rochester Red Wings on Friday night. The visitors capitalized on a six-run first inning and never looked back. Anthony Volpe and Jasson Domínguez homered in the loss.

Rochester earned five consecutive walks off of starter Adam Kloffenstein to put the first two runs aboard. A grand slam from Cayden Wallace made it 6-0 before a double play ended the frame. Kloffenstein went six-up six-down to recover well. Meanwhile, the RailRiders cut into the deficit. Kenedy Corona walked to reach and Volpe unloaded for a 431-foot home run.

The Red Wings got one run right back in the fourth inning, but so did the RailRiders as Yanquiel Fernández drove in a run for a 7-3 score.

Yohandy Morales and Maxwell Romero Jr. each launched a solo shot to start the next two frames. In the home half of the seventh, Domínguez drilled a slider over the fence to make it 9-4.

Rochester added four to their lead in the ninth. Trey Lipscomb and Wallace each singled to reach off of Chris Kean. But the RailRiders ran out of arms and had to turn to catcher Abrahan Gutierrez on the mound to finish the contest. Gutierrez let up a two-run blast to Leandro Pineda for a 13-4 advantage.

Max Schuemann knocked his fourth hit of the contest in the final frame. He scored on a J.C. Escarra groundout to garner SWB's last run, with it ending 13-5 in favor of the Red Wings.

Kloffenstein (L, 2-8) took the loss going four innings, allowing seven runs. Rochester utilized eight pitchers in the game with Matt Krook (W, 1-0) earning the win for his clean inning of work.

NEWS AND NOTES

IN THE LEAGUE - Despite losses in their past three contests, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is still in sole possession for first place in the International League, a half of a game in front of Durham. The RailRiders are 7-3 in their last ten games and 11 contests above .500.

RODÓN RETURNS - Carlos Rodón is set to make his second rehab appearance with SWB this season. The team welcomed him on the road in Worcester on May 5. Then, the southpaw tossed six and a third innings of work allowing five earned runs along with four strikeouts. Rodón returned to the Yankees on May 10 and made nine starts before heading back to the Injured List. He was placed on the 15-Day IL with left elbow inflammation on June 30.

DOM'S DELIGHT - Dom Hamel has been a starter for the RailRiders all season long but did pitch out of the bullpen once this season. Hamel holds a 6.27 ERA in 20 appearances. The righty pitched into the sixth inning three times and has faced Rochester once this season back on April 4. Hamel was utilized as a reliever on July 10 at Buffalo. He threw two clean frames on 34 pitches.

DUKE'S DASHING - Duke Ellis set a franchise record for Ellis as he eclipsed Nick Punto's 82 total swipes Thursday night. With a pair of steals, Ellis reached 84 with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre through 155 games. Punto did so on 263 games. Ellis also now has 42 steals in this season which is second most in the International League. The RailRiders season record is 44 set by Tommy Barrett in 1989.

ANTHONY ARRIVED - Anthony Volpe was optioned by New York on August 4 and has reported to the RailRiders squad. He hit a homer in his second at bat back with the team. Volpe, 25, played in just nine games with SWB this season after being here on a rehab assignment and an earlier option this summer. In 56 games with the Yankees, the righty hit .240 with nine doubles and a homer while driving in 19 runs.

THE MARTIAN LANDED - Jasson Domínguez joins the RailRiders after being optioned by New York on August 4. He hit a solo shot in the game last night. He played 53 games with the Yankees, hitting .230 with a dozen doubles and six home runs. With SWB, the switch hitter holds a .325 batting average with 5 doubles and 6 homers. Domínguez has recorded 19 RBIs in 30 games along with 10 stolen bases.

BRAD'S BEEN BOMB - Reliever Bradley Hanner lowered his ERA to 1.97 in 39 appearances. He tossed another inning scoreless, to mark seven consecutive scoreless frames. Hanner has only allowed 23 walks to 59 strikeouts in 50.1 frames. The 27-year-old was originally drafted by Minnesota in the 21st round in 2019 but signed as a free agent with New York on December 16. The Yankees added him to the 40-man on July 18.
