Louisiana Swashbucklers News Release

LAKE CHARLES - Among the many changes within the Swashbucklers organization, one is sure to catch the eyes of all the fans...Swashbucklers cheerleaders. "The cheerleading team has been named, The Firstmates in keeping with the pirate theme", said Courtney Bagley, Public Relations Director for the team. "We wanted a cheerleading squad that projects a family-friendly appearance, so both choreography and cheering outfits will appeal to all ages.

Team owner, Thom Hager said, "I am thrilled with Courtney's choice for the cheerleading director, Stacey Lantz who has an extensive background in cheering, dancing, and choreography." The focus of our cheerleaders this year will be to keep the fans so excited that they act as the ninth player on the team.

"We had great response from using high school cheerleaders last year, but with the 2006 season starting in April, the school year will be coming to a close and the girls will be focusing on graduation and summer activities", said Bagley. Tryouts will be held at Guzzy's Gymnastics, corner of 5th Avenue and College Street in Lake Charles on Friday, February 17th from 6:00 - 7:30 PM and on Saturday, February 18th from 8:45 - 10:00 AM.

To try out for the First Mate Cheerleaders, pick up a packet at the Civic Center Box Office, the Swashbucklers' office, or Guzzy's Gymnastics. Cost is $20.
