Louisiana Swashbucklers News Release
(Iowa, La. May 18, 2012) The Louisiana Swashbucklers took the field, but this time, it was a softball field. The Bucs players teamed up with special needs softball players in the Iowa Buddy Ball League.
The Bucs helped the players with hitting, fielding, and running the bases during the two inning game. "Special Needs individuals don't get in the spotlight very much", said Joanne Meaux, Director of the Buddy Ball League. "It's special for them to hear their name announced when they bat, and having the Swashbucklers here is a special treat, just look at their faces!"
The Bucs players were equally as moved. "To be here and help these kids is something I'll never forget", said Bucs Lineman Willie Pritchett. Other players echoed similar thoughts throughout the game. Roman Pritt; center for the Bucs, was having a great time with his Buddy Ball partner too, "These kids deserve the best we can give them, and to make them happy is priceless!"
The Swashbucklers organization loves the community involvement, it's a big piece of their culture, and it wouldn't surprise anyone to see them back on the softball field again in the future.
