Swashbucklers Looking for a Few Good Men

LAKE CHARLES – The team has been named, the logo completed. Now the excitement of finding the very best players to represent Southwest Louisiana begins.

The Swashbucklers will have two tryouts in order to put the quintessential team together for the quest of a championship. The first tryout session is scheduled for Saturday, December 11th at the Lake Charles YMCA, 618 Kirby Street just West of Kirkman. Registration starts at 8:00 AM.

Skill positions and Offensive and Defensive Linemen positions will include the 40-yard dash, a four square cone drill, a 10-yard shuttle drill, and one-on-one drills.

The following agenda will be strictly enforced:
· 9:00 AM: Defensive Backs, Wide Receivers, and Quarter Backs
· 10:00 AM: Line Backers and Running Backs
· 11:00 AM: Offensive Linemen and Defensive Linemen

Coach Kip Texada has accepted the position as Head Coach and Director of Operations for the Swashbucklers and will run the tryouts. Coach Texada is voracious in assembling the very best talent he can find and said, “The 2005 Swashbucklers season will be more than an inaugural season for this franchise. It will be the benchmark on which we build standards for professional football performances in Southwest Louisiana.” Coach Texada further added, “It’s time to bring a championship home to the great fans of Southwest Louisiana”.

Registration fees are just thirty dollars and non-refundable. Only cash will be accepted. Comfortable attire is recommended; cleats are mandatory.
