Swashbucklers Finally Return Home

June 19, 2007 - Intense Football League (Intense)
Louisiana Swashbucklers News Release

The Louisiana Swashbucklers finally return home after a three game road trip that began in Anchorage Alaska, then a long bus ride to San Angelo, and this past week to new rival Katy, outside of Houston. The positive side of the trip is they remain undefeated after being away from home for nearly a month and face three of the last four opponents in the Smuggler's Den, surrounded by two bye weeks that will give the Bucs much needed time off.

The negative view of the trip is the Swashbucklers are tired, beat up, and must find a way to face the arch-rival Corpus Christi Hammerheads (8-1) in what is easily the game of the season for the Intense Football League. Corpus Christi last played at Alaska nearly 10 days ago, and will have another 6 before playing in Louisiana. Needless to say the Hammerheads will come rested and ready in their attempt to take the League lead from the Louisiana Swashbucklers.

The implications of this Saturday's game are enormous, and simple. If the Swashbucklers win they will only need one more win to host the playoffs in Lake Charles. If the Swashbucklers fall to Corpus by 3 or more, the Intense Bowl could slip through the Swashbucklers' hands and be played in Corpus Christi if those two teams meet in the finals. As it sits now the Swashbucklers are the #1 seed and will host either Katy or Odessa in the first round with an outside shot of San Angelo who have not been mathematically eliminated. The Hammerheads at #2 will more than likely host the Frisco Thunder. If C.C. wins Saturday they could reverse the Swashbucklers fortunes and send Frisco back to Lake Charles for the first round. Louisiana and Corpus have both secured a playoff birth.

Black Out the Arena this Saturday June 23rd when the 10-0 Swashbucklers play host to the 8-1 Corpus Christi Hammerheads. This game could decide where Intense Bowl III will played on August 11th. All Swashbucklers fans are encouraged to where all black, Swashbucklers t-shirts and jerseys, and even face paint. This game is the biggest game of the regular season and will ultimately decide the Swashbucklers playoff fate. If you want a chance to see the Swashbucklers win the Intense Bowl in Lake Charles, come out in all black and pack the house this Saturday! Kick off is at 7:05 and doors open at 6pm. If you are a Swashbucklers fan you don't want to miss this game.
