Minnesota Swarm News Release

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm are proud to announce a partnership with the Gott To Lax Initiative, as the two organizations are teaming up to host the "Give-N-Go Gear Drive" on Sunday, March 16. The equipment drive and fundraiser will take place at Xcel Energy Center prior to the Swarm's home matchup with the Toronto Rock at 5 p.m. CT.

Fans are invited to bring lacrosse equipment or cash donations to the marked location next to the Xcel Energy Center box office, which will all benefit the Gott To Lax Initiative, a Twin-Cities based non-profit organization that provides a variety of opportunities for young lacrosse players. All fans making a donation will also receive a "BUY ONE, GET ONE HALF-OFF" coupon for Sunday's game. The Swarm are kicking off the drive by donating a variety of lacrosse equipment.

"The Minnesota Swarm are thrilled for the opportunity to get involved with an incredible organization like Gott To Lax," said Swarm Co-Owner and President Andy Arlotta. "From the beginning we have been committed to growing the game of lacrosse in Minnesota, and giving young people the chance to play this great game themselves. The Swarm and Gott To Lax both share the same passion for lacrosse and a commitment for community service so we are looking forward to March 16 and the Give-N-Go Gear Drive."

The Gott To Lax Initiative was created in honor of Adam Gott, a former youth, high school and collegiate lacrosse player who tragically lost his life in June 2012 in a dirt bike accident. The organization hosts the annual summer Gott To Lax Tournament which celebrates Adam's memory and passion for lacrosse, spearheads community outreach programs and provides scholarship opportunities for young lacrosse players, last year totaling over $10,000. The 2014 Gott To Lax Tournament will be held in Maplewood, Minn. July 12-14.

"We are very excited to partner with the MN Swarm on our first Give-n-Go gear drive event," said Gott To Lax President Kristy Visich. "It's an incredible chance to reach out to the lacrosse community on a larger scale to help support our mission. We are very proud to continue Adam's legacy of service and share his passion for lacrosse. His integrity, honor of the game, and leadership continue to inspire those that knew him. There is some comfort in knowing that Adam lives on through our efforts in his name. We are very grateful to the MN Swarm for their ongoing support of the Gott to Lax Initiative."

According to their mission statement, the Gott To Lax Initiative is driven to "provide opportunities for young people to develop skills in teamwork, commitment and leadership, and to become contributing members of society on a local and global scale."

A Minnesota Swarm game is something that has to be experienced live to be fully understood. Fans can get that experience in The Hive for as low as $22 for a lower-level seat. Fans looking to lock up pro-rated season packages can still take advantage of a special Buy 2, Get 2 25%-Off promotion for the remainder of the 2014 Season.
