Swarm Signs Five, Including G Nick Patterson

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill today announced the National Lacrosse League (NLL) team has signed G Nick Patterson, D Travis Hill, D Jonathan Durno, F Chad Culp and F Rory McDade. The contracts are subject to league approval. In addition, the Swarm has traded Mike Grimes to the Edmonton Rush in exchange for their fourth round selection in the 2008 Entry Draft. Minnesota has also placed Riley Kemp and Andrew Biers on the Injured Reserve List.

Patterson, 24 (12/8/82), went 7-5 with a 11.43 goals against average (GAA) and a .775 save pct. with the Swarm in 2007. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of Vancouver, B.C., is 14-7 with a 11.30 GAA and a .777 save pct. in three seasons with Minnesota.

Hill, 25 (6/30/83), posted eight points (1-7=8) in eight games with the Swarm last season. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound native of Lewiston, N.Y., has played in 11 career NLL games with Minnesota, totaling eight points (1-7=8).

Durno, 25 (7/5/82), collected seven points (3-4=7) and 16 PIM in 18 games with the Brooklin Redmen of the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) this summer. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound native of Toronto, Ont., has not appeared in an NLL contest.

Culp, 25 (2/5/82), played 11 games with the Swarm in 2007, posting 37 points (13-24=37), including two game-winning goals. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound native of Fergus, Ont., has played 40 career games with the Swarm, totaling 133 points (51-82=133). Culp had a career-high 55 points (20-35=55) in 15 games in 2006.

McDade, 26 (8/27/81), had four assists in three games with the Swarm last season, following a five-point (1-4=5), five-game campaign in 2006. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward hails from New Westminster, B.C.

Minnesota opens its fourth NLL campaign at Toronto on Friday, Jan. 11 and then hosts the Rock on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Xcel Energy Center in the home opener. Single game tickets will go on sale in early December. Call 888-MNSWARM or info@mnswarm.com for more information.
