Swarm and Homegrown Lacrosse Enter Third Year of Collaborative Relationship

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - For a third year, the National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm, has partnered with Twin Cities-based nonprofit Homegrown Lacrosse to support the growth of lacrosse in Minnesota.
"Both of our organizations share a passion and purpose to support the growth of lacrosse in our state," said Andy Arlotta, owner/vice president of the Minnesota Swarm. "Time after time we hear how the sport has changed lives. It is an honor for the Minnesota Swarm to be affiliated with an organization of such caliber and heart as Homegrown Lacrosse. Not only are they sharing their passion, for the sport but they are also opening up opportunities that were never dreamed possible for kids across Minnesota."
Similar in scope to the primarily in-kind relationship between the organizations in 2010, this year the focus is on cross promotion of programming and events. Of note, the Minnesota Swarm donated 300 tickets to the nonprofit for use in its fundraising efforts to support Homegrown Lacrosse's innovative In-School P.E. Program, as well as a presence in the concourse at the team's regular season home games at the Xcel Energy Center.
During the first year of their relationship, the Minnesota Swarm provided the nonprofit with a substantial cash and in-kind donation which enabled Homegrown Lacrosse to introduce 8,500 Twin Cities elementary, middle and high school students to lacrosse through its In-School P.E. Program.
The connection between the organizations goes beyond the partnership: Andy Arlotta serves on the nonprofit's board of directors and Homegrown Lacrosse's co-founder Colin Achenbach was the first Minnesota born player to hold a spot on the Minnesota Swarm's roster.
