
Swarm Acquires Scott Stewart From Portland

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm general manager Marty O'Neill announced today that the National Lacrosse League (NLL) team has acquired forward Scott Stewart from the Portland LumberJax in exchange for forward Ryder Bateman.
"We are excited to add Scott's size and speed to our offense," said O'Neill.
Stewart, 26 (4/23/79), has recorded two goals and two assists with Portland this season. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound forward collected 41 points (19-22=41) and 64 loose balls with the Anaheim Storm in 2005. Stewart tallied a career-high 49 points (23-26=49) in 2004 with Anaheim and notched personal bests with 29 goals and 96 loose balls with New Jersey in 2003. The Hamilton, Ontario-native has recorded 179 points (91-88=179) and 341 loose balls in 67 career NLL contests during five seasons with Portland, Anaheim and New Jersey. He was originally selected by New Jersey in the first round (3rd overall) of the 2001 NLL Entry Draft.
Bateman, 25 (2/18/80), has not appeared in a game this season. He recorded 39 points (20-19=39) in 14 games during his rookie season with the Swarm last year. Bateman ranked second on the team in goals and fourth in scoring. He was selected by Minnesota in the first round (6th overall) of the 2004 NLL Entry Draft.
