Surge Win in Bloomington

Bloomington, IL - After losing to start the weekend last night, the Mississippi Surge overpowered the Thunder in game two, winning 5 to 2. Surge netminder Mathieu Dugas saved 31 of 33 shots, contributing to a team win in the second of three games against Bloomington this weekend.

The Mississippi Surge got the lead early in the game when Left Wing Tommy Lange scored in his second game with the Surge this season. The action picked up in the second when Mark Thorburn scored, followed by another Surge score from Kyle Kudroch, giving the Surge a 3 - 0 lead. With just over three minutes in the second period, the Thunder finally got on the board thanks to a goal by Kyle Watson.

"We kept the game simple and learned from Friday night mistakes," Said Surge Defensemen Nicholas Kuqali, "We want to continue with the good habits that make us successful."

Just a few minutes into the third, Mark Thorburn scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Luke Greiner for the second time in the game. After a tripping minor on Tom Janosz, Paul Arnott scored for the thunder midway through the third period. To seal the deal. Luke Greiner scored his second goal of the season on an empty net with one second remaining in the third period.

"We were aggressive and executed the system tonight, and with that, we created turnovers," said Surge Head Coach Jeff Bes, "We want to remember was successful and bring it to the game tomorrow afternoon."

Bloomington will face the Surge again tomorrow to wrap up a three game weekend. The Surge will then travel to Pensacola on Tuesday before their next home game in the Power Plant on Friday, December 20.
