Mississippi Surge owner Tim Kerr issued a challenge and Surge fans responded in droves. The result is the team will play in the 2012-13 Southern Professional Hockey League Season.

"I am impressed with the passion of our fans and look forward to building a franchise that is successful both on and off the ice. Our work is not done in getting our grand in the stands and we look forward to working with our corporate partners to build a stable franchise which will keep hockey on the coast for many years to come," Kerr said.

Kerr had asked fans to put deposits on 700 season tickets by May 11th. At the close of business on that day, the Surge had deposits on 737 season tickets. While thanking the fans, Kerr stressed that the team will continue working on season tickets, corporate partnerships and community programs.

Season tickets for the 2012-13 Surge season are available by calling the Surge at 228-287-PUCK (7825). More information is also available at www.mssurge.com .
