Mississippi Surge News Release

An inspirational poster hanging in Mississippi Surge Coach Jeff Bes' office has the motivational message, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."

The Surge took that first step Wednesday with its first on ice day of the training camp for the 2011-12 Southern Professional Hockey League season.

"There's always a lot of energy on the first day," Bes said. "You could tell the guys were ready to get started. It was a good first

day, naturally a lot to work on but I saw some good things out there."

Training camp continues on Thursday with on ice sessions at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum from 10 a.m. to noon, and then again from 4-6 p.m. On Friday and Saturday the Surge will scrimmage against the Pensacola Ice Flyers in Pensacola at 1 p.m. each day.

The Surge begins the season on Thursday, October 20th at Augusta, and the home opener is Friday, October 28th against Huntsville at 7:05 p.m.

Season tickets for the 2011-12 Surge season are on sale now, with plans starting for less than $10 per game. For more information call the Surge at 228-287-PUCK (7825).
