BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Surge earned a point in the standings for the 12th consecutive game but fell in overtime to the Columbus Cottonmouths by the score of 5-4 at the Columbus Civic Center on Friday.

Sam Bowles got the Cottonmouths a 1-0 lead 9:43 into the first period when he took a pass from Tim Green and beat Ryan Senft to the stick side. Orrin Hergott broke down the right wing while Columbus was shorthanded and put a backhander over the glove of Senft for a 2-0 lead at 16:18. Mississippi drew within one at 17:20 of the first when Chris Ferazzoli blasted a rebound past Columbus goalie Ian Vigier.

Mississippi controlled the second period, potting a goal from 12:08 when Ferazzoli found Tom Boudreau open in the low slot and Boudreau rifled a shot past Vigier to tie the game at two. Matt Zultek gave the Surge the lead when he redirected Glenn Cacaro's shot past Vigier at 12:42.

Tom McMnagle tied the game at three with a goal at 13:08, but Zultek restored the Surge lead at 15:l7 when he popped a goalmouth feed past Vigier at 15:17 of the third.

With Vigier on the bench for an extra attacker, Levi Lind rifled a shot over Senft's glove to tie the game with 11 seconds remaining in the third period.

Orrin Hergott's wrist shot beat Senft through the five hole 1:55 into overtime to give Columbus the 5-4 win.

Ryan Senft made 21 saves, and the Surge went 0-for-7 on the power play.
