Surf Promotes Ball to Assisant General Manager, Hires Carminucci

Atlantic City, NJ- The Atlantic City Surf of the Can-Am League has announced that Chris Carminucci will take over as the new field manager of the team. He replaces Jeff Ball who has been promoted to assistant general manager after serving as the field manager for the past three years.
Carminucci, formerly the manager of the St. Joe Blacksnakes of the American Association, will also serve as the team's Director of Player Personnel. This will be the third managerial position for Carminucci who also led the Grays, the road team for the Can-Am League.
"What a great honor and privilege it is to manage the Surf heading into the 10th Anniversary Season in Atlantic City," said Carminucci. "Jeff Ball has done an outstanding job on and off the field as the manager and I look forward to continuing the winning tradition of Surf baseball. I also would like to thank Mark Schuster for this opportunity and bringing me closer to my family located in Connecticut."
"Chris is an outstanding field manager and I could think of no other person to replace the winningest manager in Atlantic City Professional Baseball history," said Mark Schuster, President and Managing General Partner of the team. "I have enjoyed watching Chris' teams play as he always compiles a group of young men who are aggressive on the field but serve as good ambassadors to the game off the field."
Jeff Ball, the Surf manager for the past three seasons where he recorded a record of 220-171, will be promoted to assistant general manager within the front office. Jeff's role with the team will include corporate sales, community relations and youth baseball development along with assisting with baseball operations.
"I am very excited about the promotion to assistant general manager and taking on more responsibility within the front office," said Ball. "I look forward to working with the Surf staff and contributing to the entire organization."
A press conference will be scheduled on a future date to formally introduce Chris Carminucci as the new manager and the promotion of Jeff Ball to assistant general manager. The Surf will also discuss the upcoming 2007 season, the team's 10th Anniversary in Atlantic City, and all of the events that will take place at Bernie Robbins Stadium throughout the spring and summer months.
"The team is fortunate to have both Chris and Jeff on our staff as we enter our first season in the Can-Am League," said Brendan Fairfield, general manager of the Surf. "Both individuals bring a great deal of baseball and business knowledge to the organization."
