SunFire Remains Undefeated at 5-0

LONG BEACH - Melissa Simmons rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown as the San Diego SunFire beat the Long Beach AfterShock 27-8 yesterday in an American Football Women's League game before 700 fans at Veteran's Stadium.

The unbeaten SunFire (5-0) led 27-0 at the half. The AfterShock (3-2) got its lone touchdown in the third quarter.

In all, four different SunFire players ran for touchdowns. Simmons' score came on the opening drive and went for 59 yards. DeAngela Minter and Railene Ritzberg combined to rush for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Next Saturday night, the SunFire opens a 2 game homestand with games November 2nd against Los Angeles (3-2) and November 9th against Arizona (1-4). at Patrick Henry Stadium in San Diego.
