SunFire and GGI to Host NFL Pepsi PPK Sectionals

SAN DIEGO - For the third straight year, PPK officials have asked the San Diego SunFire and Gridiron Girls Inc. to host the San Diego Sectional Championship of the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick Competition. The NFL PPK is the largest youth skills competition in all of sports. The California sectional championship will be held on November 8th at the Kroc Center in La Mesa. Millions of kids in the U.S. and Canada have joined in the fun of the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition since it started way back in the 1960s. Any boy or girl 8 to 15 years old can compete for a chance at becoming a national champ. And, it's all free! To find a local competition near you go to: www.nflyouthfootball.com.

GGI and the SunFire will host the Sectionals, where the top eight winners (4 boys and 4 girls) advance to compete for a chance to be part of the halftime festivities at a Chargers game. Each competitor will begin anew with a score of zero (0). Only the top five (5) first-place finishers in each age bracket from the boys' and girls' divisions from the pool of Sectional Competition champions will advance to the Team Championship. At all levels of competition, only first-place winners will be considered for advancement to the next level.

San Diego Sectional winners that qualify, will advance to the Chargers Championship to be held November 30th at the Chargers game versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Each winner will receive a NFL Pepsi prize pack and 2 tickets to the Chargers game for family members. At that competition, each of the forty (40) California competitors will begin anew with a score of zero (0). The top finisher within each age bracket at this level will be declared the Chargers NFL PEPSI PUNT, PASS & KICK Team Champion. The top finisher is the participant who has achieved the highest final score for that round.
