Arizona Sundogs News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League announced during a team press conference Thursday that they have signed all-star forward Konrad Reeder for the upcoming 2009-10 season.
Reeder, 27, comes to the Sundogs having amassed 217 points (90g/127a) in 172 professional games - all played in the CHL.
"Konrad is a proven offensive force in this league," said Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro. "Our team has become very familiar with his style of play and talents over the last three years and we're extremely pleased to have him in a Sundogs sweater for the upcoming season."
After appearing in three games in Denmark to start the 2008-09 season, the 5-foot-9, 175-pound winger was acquired by the Colorado Eagles in a trade with the New Mexico Scorpions and ultimately finished fifth in team scoring, tallying 70 points (31g/39a) in 63 games. He finished with a plus-16 rating, his 31 goals were third-most on the team and his seven game-winning goals led the Eagles and were good enough for fourth-best in the CHL. Reeder added 11 points (5g/6a) in 15 postseason appearances during the 2009 playoffs as Colorado fell to the Texas Brahmas in the Ray Miron President's Cup Finals.
The two-time CHL all-star has accumulated 10 points (5g/5a) in the league's last two mid-season contests. Reeder earned MVP honors during the 2009 CHL All-Star Game with a four-goal, five-point effort, helping his regular season club to an 8-4 win over the CHL All-Stars. The Vanderhoof, British Columbia, native also shined during the 2008 all-star game while skating for Pietroniro, collecting another five-points (1g/4a) en route to an 11-6 South victory - the conference's first win over the North in five years.
"I was fortunate enough to be a named coach for the 2008 all-star game and witnessed first-hand Konrad's interaction with his teammates," added Pietroniro. "There's no doubt in my mind that he will be a good fit for our organization and our fans."
During the 2007-08 season while with the New Mexico Scorpions, Reeder ranked among the league's leaders in nearly every offensive category including points (2nd, 108), goals (3rd, 41), assists (3rd, 67), power-play goals (5th, 14), power-play assists (6th, 25), short-handed goals (3rd, 6) and short-handed assists (4th, 4). In the 2008 playoffs Reeder led the Scorpions with 13 points (5g/8a) in just five games before being eliminated by the Sundogs in Game 6 of the semi-finals.
With the addition of Reeder the Sundogs roster now sits at five. Players under contract for next season include veteran defenseman and player/assistant coach Chris Bartolone, forward Jason Visser, forward/defenseman Kyle Hood and goaltender J.F. Perras.
The Sundogs return for their fourth season at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley this October. Season ticket packages are available and start as low as $350. Ask about the âNo-Risk Protection Plan'. For more information call (928) 772-5555 or visit www.arizonasundogs.com.
