
Sun Ming Ming adds to Flights high hopes for season three

Grand Rapids, MI- Grand Rapids Flight head coach David Fox announced today that 7'9", 370lb. Chinese sensation Sun Ming Ming will arrive this week to assume his role as the starting center for the IBL's Flight.
In the past year, he has garnered national attention, highlighted by appearances on The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the Discovery Health channel. Sun has also been featured in Sports Illustrated, New York Newsday and the New York Times. Sun will also appear in the feature film "Rush Hour 3" with Jackie Chan, coming out later this year.
Sun, who suffers from acromegaly, or gigantism, successfully underwent surgery last year to remove a life-threatening pituitary tumor. For the past month, Sun has been playing in front of sellout crowds in the ABA in preparation for his full-season of play in Grand Rapids.
"We are extremely excited to have Sun playing for us this season," said Flight coach David Fox. "He will be an exciting player to watch as he continues to improve and develop into an NBA-caliber center."
The addition of Sun adds even more height to a roster that already boasts five other players 6'9 and taller. The Flight will open their home season on April 6th against the Lansing Capitals.
