Strykers Will Look to Pick up Win Tomorrow; Home July 4th

The Woodlands Strykers made their first visit to the state of Louisiana tonight to open a two game series against the Acadiana Cane Cutters. The two teams were neck and neck for the first of the game until the Cane Cutters pulled ahead and won 8-2.

Spring native, Chris Thompson made his second start on the mound tonight. Thompson pitched the first 5.1 innings and striking out four batters. Nolan Holland followed and 1.2 innings recording one strikeout before giving away to Gandy Stubblefield who pitched the last inning and recorded a strikeout.

On the night the team collected 10 hits but only managed to get one run in each of the eighth and ninth innings. Both Brian Smith and Daniel Homann were 2-4 on the night. Smith had a RBI single that scored Zach Davis in the eighth inning. Davis was 2-3 on the night with a RBI triple that scored Taska. Dirk Masters, Taylor Taska and Dalton Perry were each 1-4. Landon Merka was 1-5.

The Strykers will look to split the series tomorrow at 7:05 in Acadiana. After the game, the team will hop on the bus and travel home as they will play a four game homestand starting Thursday and going through Sunday. The team will play the East Texas Pump Jacks Thursday and Friday. Come out Thursday on Independence Day as we will have a special guest do the first pitch. Thursday game is also a Dollar Thursday with $1 Hot Dogs and Drinks. The Friday game against the Pump Jacks is a Family Friday with Free Kids Admission and Post Game Autograph Session. The Cane Cutters will come to town this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's game is a Saturday Drive with Half Off GA Tickets with the donation of a non perishable food item to be donated to Interfaith of The Woodlands.
