
Strykers Top Pump Jacks 5-4 in Extras

The Woodlands Strykers opened up a two game series tonight in Kilgore against the East Texas Pump Jacks. The Strykers controlled most of the game early, but the Pump Jacks came back to make the game close. The Strykers ended up pulling out a 5-4 in the top of the 10th inning.
The Strykers got their first run in the first inning when Dirk Masters, the designated hitter, would come home on a RBI single by Daniel Homann who made the start behind the plate. The team put together three runs in the seventh inning. Right fielder Ricky Sanchez started it all by hitting a single. He would steal second, and come home on a single hit by Masters. Masters would move to second on the play. Masters would score on a double by Homann. The final run of the inning came when Taylor Taska would score Brian Smith who had gotten on base earlier in the inning by drawing a walk.
Chase McDowell, recently signed by the Strykers earlier this week made the start. McDowell is in his Junior year at Rice University. The College Station native pitched six scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out three batters. Chris Thompson came in after McDowell and pitched 1.1 innings while striking out a batter before Gandy Stubblefield came in for the final 2.2 innings, and got a strikeout on the final play to seal the win for the Strykers.
The team finishes up their series with the Strykers tomorrow night at 7:05 in Kilgore. The team returns home this weekend to take on the league leading Brazos Valley Bombers for two games starting Saturday at 7:05. Game two is also scheduled for 7:05 Sunday. Saturday's game is a "Saturday Drives". Bring in any nonperishable food item to be donated to Interfaith of The Woodlands and receive 1/2 off GA Tickets.
