Strykers Drop Two In Victoria

The Woodlands Strykers opened up a two game series with the Victoria Generals tonight in Victoria. Both teams played great, but the Generals capitalized on some miscues and won 2-1. Conroe native, Matt Danton started on the mound. Once starting, he never looked back going the whole game and pitching eight innings, giving up two runs while striking out five batters. The lone run for the Strykers was scored by catcher Connor Kalisky. He led off the sixth inning by drawing a walk. He then stole second base. He would move to third base on a groundout by second baseman Robert Heep. Kalisky would score on a single by shortstop Conner Fikes. Game 2

The Strykers finished their two game series with the Generals tonight. The Strykers had the lead, but the Generals came back to take the game 7-3. Shortstop Conner Fikes started the game by hitting a double to left field. He would score when the next batter Landon Merka lined a double to right field. Merka scored on a RBI single by Brian Smith. Catcher Joseph Olson hit a double to start the sixth inning, and he scored on a RBI single by Conner Fikes a few batters later. Spring native, Nolan Holland started on the mound for the Strykers. He pitched four innings giving up two runs.Greg Jakusik, Kael Jones, Jake Cosart, Gandy Stubblefield and Martin Cronin pitched the final four innings.

The teams continue their series in Victoria tomorrow at 7:05. After the off day Monday, the team opens a two game home stand against the Texas Marshals Tuesday and Wednesday. Both games will be at 7:05 at Strykers Stadium located on the campus of The Woodlands Christian Academy which is located at 5800 Academy Way The Woodlands TX.
