Strykers Beat Cane Cutters 3-2

The Woodlands Strykers defeated the Acadiana Cane Cutters tonight 3-2. The team got three runs in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead and got a great start from Matt Danton.

In the eight inning, new Stryker Drake Roberts led off the inning with a walk, he would come home to score when the next batter, Taylor Taska would hit a double. Taska would score two batters later when Zach Davis would hit a single. Davis came home to score the third run a few batters later when Ricky Sanchez would hit into a fielder's choice. Taska was 3-4 on the night with the RBI. Kevin Santana also added a single.

Matt Danton one again pitched a great game for the Strykers. He went six complete innings, gave up seven hit, two runs and kept batters guessing as he struck out seven batters. Nolan Riggs then came in for two innings of relief. He gave up one hit, and struck out three Cane Cutters. He also had to get out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the eighth inning. Gandy Stubblefield came in for the save, facing three batters and striking out one.

The Strykers will look for the sweep tomorrow night when the two teams conclude the series in Youngsville, Louisiana. The Strykers then return home to face the Victoria Generals Saturday and Sunday at 7:05. Saturday's game is a "Saturday Drive" with 1/2 off GA tickets with the donation of a non perishable food item to be donated to Interfaith of The Woodlands. Sunday's game is a "Memorable Sunday" with a chance to play catch on the field following the game(weather permitting, bring glove).
