Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (August 11, 2009) - The Quad City Mallards of the AA+ International Hockey League this evening welcomed a host of new and existing season ticket holders and enthusiastic fans to "Pick Your Seat Night" at the i wireless Center, an event that met with such a strong response that the team has announced it will hold further "Pick Your Seat Nights" in the coming weeks.
"We're thrilled with tonight's excellent turnout and excited by the enthusiasm shown by our fans for two solid hours beginning when we started off the evening at 6:00 p.m.," said Mallards Executive Vice President and General Manager Shawn Hackman. "To have seen so many fans come out to join us on a weeknight due in large part to word-of-mouth is remarkable. At that same time we also heard from fans who wanted to come out but were not able to join us tonight, so we're looking forward to holding more "Pick Your Seat Nights" and moving the event to a weekend in the near future."
"We are also very thankful to the Illinois Quad City Chamber of Commerce, the Davenport One Chamber of Commerce, the Bettendorf Chamber of Commerce and the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau for their participation in this evening's event and for helping us start the festivities with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and symbolic opening faceoff," said Hackan.
New and existing season ticket holders tonight took advantage of the chance to test out in person their seats for the most fan-focused season ticket plans and promotional schedule in professional hockey. The Mallards' new ICE ROW Cold Pass proved particularly popular tonight- by the end of the evening Cold Pass seats were nearly sold out. The Mallards are the first team in the history of professional hockey to offer the Cold Pass, which provides the fan with an experience like no other. Designated as the first two rows closest to the ice, ICE ROW ticket holders see, feel, and live all the high-intensity game action with all the access usually reserved for only a select few. ICE ROW Cold Pass ticket holders are granted entry into the arena 30 minutes prior to walk up general public admissions and are treated to Mallards locker room and hockey operations access up to 30 minutes before the game to hear coach's comments and live the behind-the-scenes experience.
The Mallards kicked off the "Year of the Fan" this evening by also giving fans at "Pick Your Seat Night" their first chance to meet Frank Anzalone, who today was named the team's new head coach and director of hockey operations. In addition, former long-time Mallard fan favorite Kerry Toporowski was on hand to spend time with fans.
The lucky winner of tonight's drawing for a trip for two to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto will be announced in the near future. All fans who made deposits on season tickets tonight as well as all existing season ticket holders will receive their choice of tickets to one of three upcoming i wireless Center events: Demi Lovato or Temptations concerts or the H2X Extreme Water Sports Show.
The Mallards' "QUACK PACK" full season ticket plans, which include the ICE ROW Cold Pass Seats ($25- Rows 1 and 2), Platinum Seats ($15, walk up $18), End Seats ($13, walk up $16), Upper Platinum ($11, walk up $13), and Upper End Seats ($9, walk up $11), encompass all 38 regular season home games as well as discounts on all Mallards home playoff games. As a QUACK PACK member, fans save 20% off face value of the walk up ticket price. With a full season plan for every household budget starting as low as $342, QUACK PACK members select exclusively from the best seats in i wireless Center. For the ultimate in financial convenience, season ticket holders may choose the flexible and secure "EZ-Pay" Plan, which allows for monthly no-interest payments through March of 2010.
