Strand, Davis and Arevalo take home Week 8 honors

RICHMOND VA.- The Indoor Football League (IFL) has named QB Matt Strand, DL Adrian Davis and K Zeke Arevalo Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 8 of the IFL season.

Wyoming QB Matt Strand and Nebraska DL Adrian Davis have been named Vidswap.com's Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. New Mexico K Zeke Arevalo has been named Vidswap.com's Special Teams Player of the Week.

IFL Offensive Player of the Week: Strand (6'4, 275, Chadron St.) threw eight touchdown passes as he helped pull the Cavalry to their second win of the season. In the game vs. the Omaha Beef, Strand completed 24 of 37 passes for 297 yards and eight TDs as the Cavalry went on to win 71-60 over the Beef. The 71 points scored was a season-high for the Cavalry. Strand also becomes the first player in the 2012 IFL season to throw for eight TDs in a single game. The seventh year veteran also leads the IFL in touchdown passes (33) and passing yards (1563).

IFL Defensive Player of the Week: The Nebraska Danger gave up only 27 points this past weekend thanks in part to stellar play by DL Adrian Davis (6'4,250, Arkansas). Davis anchored the Danger's defensive line as he finished the game vs. the Wild with 7 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one fumble recovery and 1.5 sacks. Davis is currently tied in for the lead in Nebraska for sacks (2.5)

IFL Special Teams Player of the Week: The New Mexico Stars gave the Colorado Ice its first loss in five weeks thanks to the leg of K Aravalo (5'9, 185, St.Mary's). Arevalo kicked three field goals from distances of 17,23 and 25 yards. He also kicked the game winning Field Goal with five seconds left to give the Stars the victory, 44-41. Arevalo was also 4 of 4 on extra points. He finished the game vs. Ice with 13 total points.
