Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Storm host the New York Dragons on Bill Currie Field at the St. Pete Times Forum this Friday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. The match-up showcases two great quarterbacks, young Storm quarterback Brett Dietz and the veteran Dragon quarterback Aaron Garcia.
Dietz surpassed 4,000 career passing yards last week against the Arizona Rattlers. He became the fastest quarterback in Arena Football history to reach that milestone in only his 15th game. Garcia ranks as one of the best in AFL history as he was the first quarterback to throw for 750 touchdowns and is one of only four quarterbacks to throw for more than 800 touchdowns.
Friday night's game is Motorcycle Night. Harley Davidson will be on the Chrysler/Jeep Plaza with an outdoor presentation and all motorcyclists will receive $5 dollar parking. The presenting sponsor for the game against the Dragons is ADT. The first 8,000 fans will receive a rally towel compliments of ADT.
Roster Moves
The team re-signed two players back to the practice squad, quarterback Jon Beutjer and defensive back Daryon Brutely. While Beutjer has not seen any action this season Brutley has appeared in two games and recorded 6.5 tackles. The Storm also released wide receiver Brent Holmes. He appeared in five games and accumulated 246 yards and two touchdowns on 25 receptions. Holmes also returned 14 kickoffs for 197 yards.
Addition to Coaching Staff
Pete Kuharchek joins the Tampa Bay Storm as the defensive line coach. The former University of Tampa football standout began his career as graduate assistant at UT in 1969. He then spent two years away from the gridiron before returning to the coaching ranks at Tampa Catholic in 1972. This is Kuharchek's second season coaching in the AFL; he spent part of the 2006 season with the Tampa Bay Storm as a Quality Control Coach. Prior to joining the Storm staff in 2006 he was the Head Coach of the Rhein Fire in NFL Europa.
Post Game Entertainment
Atlantic recording artist Randy Jackson from Zebra will perform a solo acoustical performance on the Chrysler/Jeep Plaza immediately following the Storm game. Jackson, the lead singer of Zebra, will perform a solo acoustic show featuring music from Zebra, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Doors and much more.
