TAMPA BAY - The five-time ArenaBowl champion Tampa Bay Storm have re-signed OL/DL Nyle Wiren to a one-year contract and have signed rookie WR/LB Mickey Peters to a two-year contract, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today.

"Nyle has been a great leader on this team," Marcum said. "He's got a ton of experience in this game and his presence on the field and in the locker room is vital to this team."

Wiren, 6-foot-2, 260-pounds, had 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks for a loss of 14 yards, a fumble recovery and two forced fumbles last season. Now in his ninth season out of Kansas State University, Wiren has amassed 112 tackles, 16 sacks for a loss of 114 yards, one interception, 11 forced fumbles and eight fumble recoveries on defense. He ranks second on the career sacks list for the Storm behind Andre Bowden (33). On offense the 32-year-old has rushed the ball 70 times for 108 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Wichita, Kansas native was named to the All-Arena Second Team in 2004. Before joining the Storm in 1998, Wiren played for the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts for one season. Selected to the All Big-12 First Team in 1996, the former Wildcat finished his career at his alma mater as the all-time leader in sacks.

Peters, a 25-year-old rookie from Texas Tech University, played four seasons in Lubbock where he hauled in 196 receptions for 2,318 yards and scored 22 touchdowns. The Weatherford, Texas native started his career as a quarterback for the Red Raiders. He completed three passes on three attempts for 80 yards, all on trick plays. In 2002 the 6-3, 211-pound tight end led the nation in receptions for tight ends with 51 while being named to the All Big-12 Coaches Third Team.

The 2006 Storm football season, presented by Champs Sports, gets underway January 29, 2006 versus the Philadelphia Soul with the home opener on February 10 against the National Conference Champion Georgia Force. For more information visit www.tampabaystorm.com or call 813.301.6600.
