
Storm Sign Two, Re-Sign Two

TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have signed free agent linemen Buck Gurley and Mondre Dickerson to contracts. They have also re-signed linemen Omar Smith and Demarco McNeil, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today.
Gurley, 6-foot-4, 300-pound OL/DL spent last season with the Orlando Predators. The two-year veteran from the University of Florida had 15.5 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery that led to a touchdown in his two seasons with the Predators. The 27-year-old from Quincy, Florida has also spent time in the NFL and NFL Europe. He played in eight games and collected two tackles with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002.
Dickerson, a 6-4, 300-pound rookie linemen from the University of Tennessee spent this past summer in the Cincinnati Bengals' training camp. As a Volunteer the 23-year-old Memphis, Tennessee native had 50 tackles, eight tackles for a loss of 40 yards, five sacks for a loss of 32 yards and one forced fumble on defense. On special teams he recorded one blocked kick. A junior college transfer from Coffeyville (Kansas) Community College, Dickerson finished with 194 tackles and 20 sacks on his way to being named a Second-Team NJCAA All-American in 2001.
Smith, a 28-year-old OL/DL from the University of Kentucky, spent his first AFL season with the Storm in 2005 and recorded three tackles on defense while playing a regular role at center on the offensive line. In the NFL the 6-3, 300-pound native of Spanish Town, Jamaica played in 11 games at center for the New York Giants from 2002-04. At Kentucky the graduate of Nova High in Davie, FL was selected to the First-Team All-Southeastern Conference team by the Associated Press after his senior season.
McNeil, a 6-3, 300-pound defensive tackle from Auburn University was on the Storm's other league exempt list in 2005. In 2004, the Eight Mile, Alabama native was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles and in 2005 he spent training camp with the New England Patriots. He was a three-year starter at Auburn and amassed 194 tackles, 34 tackles for a loss of 150 yards, three interceptions, five fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles. In 1999 he was named Alabama's "Mr. Football" as a highly touted prep star at Mount Blount High, becoming the first lineman to ever receive the honor.
