TAMPA BAY - The five-time world Champion Tampa Bay Storm have signed free agent quarterback Brett Dietz, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today.
A former standout at Hanover College spent the 2005 season with the Cincinnati Marshals of the National Indoor Football League. He appeared in 12 games with the Marshals and completed 198 of 345 passes (57.4 percent) for 2,226 yards and 41 touchdowns. He averaged nearly 190 yards per game.
Dietz left Hanover as one of the most successful quarterbacks in school history and had tryouts with numerous professional teams following his graduation including the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. He eventually signed with the Turku Trojans in Finland for the 2004 season.
While in college Dietz also played golf, basketball and baseball along with football.
The 2006 Tampa Bay Storm season, presented by Champs Sports, kicks off on Sunday, January 29 in Philadelphia (3 p.m., AFL on NBC, WDAE 620 AM) with the home opener scheduled for February 10, 2006 against the defending National Conference Champion Georgia Force.
