Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA, FL -- The Tampa Bay Storm signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineman Jorge Diaz on Friday, head coach Tim Marcum announced. Diaz will be in uniform when the Storm face the Georgia Force Sunday afternoon.

Diaz (6-3, 290, Texas A&M-Kingsville) is a five-year NFL veteran who played four seasons at guard for the Bucs. He started 47 of 52 games played with the Bucs, including all 16 in 1997. Diaz also helped the Bucs advance to the NFC championship game in 1999 before signing a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys in 2000.

The Texas A&M-Kingsville product was one of five offensive linemen to earn All-Lone Star Conference honors during Diaz's senior season with the Javelinas in 1995. He joined the Bucs as an undrafted free agent in 1996 and played in Tampa through the 1999 season.

Diaz and the Storm travel to take on the Georgia Force at 3:00 pm Sunday. The game will be televised live on NBC Sports and will determine the Storm's final playoff seeding. If the Storm win on Sunday they will be seeded second in the playoffs. Should Tampa Bay lose it will be either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed.
