Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have re-signed fullback/linebacker Torrance Marshall and lineman Tom Kaleita to two-year deals, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today.
Marshall, 6-foot-2, 260 pounds, a two-year Arena Football League veteran, signed a two-year deal. The linebacker comes off of a season in which he filled in at fullback after Rodney Filer went down with a season ending injury. In doing so Marshall set a franchise single-season touchdown rushing record with 17 touchdowns on the ground. His 17 touchdowns paved the way for a team single-season touchdown rushing record with 32. Offensively he led the team with 107 yards on 55 rush attempts.
On the defensive side of the ball he captained the defense from the MACK linebacker position where he finished second on the team with 43 quarterback hurries. He finished the season with 17.5 tackles, two for a loss of eleven yards, one sack, four pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
Kaleita, 6-5, 320, signed a deal that will keep him in Tampa Bay through the 2009 AFL season. He played in 11 games and started in nine during his rookie season. Kaleita spent four weeks on injured reserve after dislocating his left wrist in Week 4 against the New York Dragons. He came back early and played the majority of the season with a cast on his left wrist. He is expected to anchor the offensive line for quarterback Brett Dietz.
The Tampa Bay Storm look forward to next season as many key players from 2007 will return. AFL Co-Rookie of the year and All-Rookie quarterback Brett Dietz, nose guard Tim McGill and center Marcus Owen among others will be back to take the 2008 AFL season by storm.
