Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have re-signed kicker Seth Marler to a one-year contract, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today.

Marler, 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, made his AFL debut with the Tampa Bay Storm this past season. He appeared in 14 games and finished with 140 points as he converted 16 of 20 field goal attempts and 92 of 99 extra point attempts. Marler earned AFL Kicker of the Month honors for the months of May and June. He led all kickers in the AFL in points per game (10.0), field goal percentage (80.0%), and all rookie kickers with 29 touchbacks. Marler also finished second in the AFL in field goals made (16) and overall kick percentage (90.8%).

"No doubt about it, Seth has a good leg and had a good year for us," said Marcum. "Seth did a real good job of improving our kicking game, we are sure glad to have him back for next season."

The kicker signed with the Storm on March, 16, 2007 one day before his first game. He drastically improved the kicking game with his consistency and strong leg. His 80 percent conversion rate on field goal attempts fell five attempts shy of shattering the league record of 75 percent set by Remy Hamilton in 2006.

The Tampa Bay Storm look forward to next season as many key players from 2007 will return. AFL Co-Rookie of the year and All-Rookie quarterback Brett Dietz, All-Ironman Lawrence Samuels, record setting fullback Torrance Marshall and touchdown leading wide receiver Terrill Shaw, among others will be back to take the 2008 AFL season by storm.
