Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA, FL -- The Tampa Bay Storm continued with their aggressive free agent acquisitions on Monday, re-signing fullback/linebacker David White, head coach Tim Marcum announced.

White (6-2, 260, Nebraska) enters his third season with the Storm and his sixth AFL season overall. He is the 20th free agent to sign with Tampa Bay since the beginning of the free agent signing period on October 15.

White was Tampa Bay's leading rusher last season, carrying 50 times for 107 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also caught five passes for 46 yards. Defensively, White turned in his best season ever, collecting 18.5 tackles, including 2.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in the regular season.

In all White set single season career highs in five categories in 2003, including rushing attempts, rushing touchdowns, tackles, sacks, and tackles for loss.

White began his AFL career with the Buffalo Destroyers. He played there three seasons after a four-year NFL career. White joins Basil Proctor as the only fullback/linebackers currently on the Storm roster. Tampa Bay will likely sign one more player at that position before the start of training camp. Additionally, linemen Darion Conner and Nyle Wiren have also played FB/LB in the past and could be used there if needed.

The Tampa Bay Storm begin defense of their 2003 ArenaBowl championship on Sunday, February 8, 2004, when they take on the Orlando Predators at 3:00 pm in the St. Pete Times Forum. Season tickets for the 2004 season can be purchased by calling (813) 301-6600. Season tickets may also be purchased in person at the St. Pete Times Fourm Box Office or online at www.tampabaystorm.com.
