Storm Falls to Shock in Season Finale

Spokane, WA -- The Tampa Bay Storm (8-10) fell to the Shock (10-8) by a score of 63-53 late Saturday evening in front of 8,973 fans at Spokane Arena. The loss, in conjunction with wins by Cleveland (8-10) and Georgia (9-9) eliminated the Storm from the playoffs for only the fourth time in 25 seasons.

Tampa Bay was led by local high school product (Palmetto H.S.) Joe Hills who made his return to face his former team. Hills had a big night catching eight passes for 215 yards with three touchdowns, his receiving yards are the fourth highest total in the AFL this season and second highest behind injured wide receiver Amarri Jackson's 220-yard effort earlier this season against Orlando. Fellow wide out Prechae Rodriguez led all receivers with 11 receptions to give him 125 on the season tying the franchise single-season record despite missing two game earlier this season.

Storm Quarterback Stephen Wasil completed 23-of-37 passes for a career-high 391 yards and four touchdowns. Wasil added three touchdowns on the ground to finish the season with 19, two shy of the single-season record set by Torrance Marshall in 2008.

Shock defensive back Patrick Stoudamire made the play of the game when he recovered a kickoff off that caromed off of the net and returned it for touchdown early in the second quarter. The touchdown changed the momentum of the game as Tampa Bay had to play catch up from that point forward. Spokane's defense came up with two big fumble recoveries in the third quarter to help sustain the lead. Shock recover Adron Tennell finished with a four touchdowns on 10 catches for 140 yards while quarterback Kyle Rowley was efficient completing 24-of-33 passes for 245 yards and six touchdowns, he added another score on the ground.
