Saint John Riptide News Release

(Charlottetown, PE): The Island Storm drew first blood, 108-102, in a clash of Atlantic Division rivals at the Eastland Centre in Charlottetown.

Kenny Jones picked up his third foul in the second quarter, and was in foul trouble all game. A 15-6 run capped by a Tyrone Levett three pointer tied the score at 50-50.

The Storm came out strong in the third quarter and built a double digit lead. Saint John clawed back to cut the deficit to 105-100 with under a minute, but time was not on their side.

"Going into tonight we knew this would be a statement game with last year's success by both teams," Mill Rats Head Coach Julian King. "They are well coached and came to play, and we dug ourselves a hole and got in foul trouble."

Aquille Carr and Anthony Anderson led with 19 points, Eric Crookshank 17, Kenny Jones 13, and Anthony Winbush 10. Brandon Robinson scored 31 for the Storm. The Mill Rats fall to 1-1 and the Storm begin 1-0.

The Mill Rats are back in action for their home opener on Sunday November 9th at Harbour Station at 2PM in a rematch against the Storm.
