TAMPA - The Los Angeles Avengers have named Tampa Bay Storm Offensive Coordinator Pat O'Hara as its new head coach. O'Hara will replace Ed Hodgkiss who spent the past sevens seasons with the Avengers and compiled a 57-53 regular season record; however the Avengers finished 5-11 this season.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for Pat," said Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum. "Pat is well deserving of this opportunity and we are proud of him. He has been with us for sometime and we will miss him."

O'Hara, a graduate of the University of Southern California, played 16 seasons of professional football and has been a part of the Arena Football League for 14 years. He spent the past six seasons with the Storm, three as quarterback (2003-04, 2006) and three as Offensive Coordinator (2005, 2007-08). In 2003 he filled in for an injured John Kaleo to lead the Storm to a victory over the Arizona Rattlers in ArenaBowl XVII.

In 16 seasons at quarterback he played with seven teams, played in five ArenaBowls and won three championship rings. He began his professional career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a 10th round draft pick in the 1991 National Football League Entry Draft.

Following the 1991 season he was allocated to the World League's Ohio Glory and subsequently signed by the San Diego Chargers as Plan B free agent in 1992. After one season with the Chargers he spent training camp with the Washington Redskins in 1993-94.

He transitioned to the Orlando Predators in 1995 and led the Predators to two ArenaBowl Championships (1996 and 2000). During his time with the Predators he set every passing record in Predator history as he completed 682-of-1,199 passes for 9,325 yards and 166 touchdowns. He then spent two seasons with the Toronto Phantoms before he joined the Storm.

The Tampa Bay Storm look forward to next season with many key players from 2008 returning. All-Arena defensive lineman Tim McGill, quarterback Brett Dietz, wide receivers Hank Edwards and Tyrone Timmons among others will be back to take the 2009 AFL season by storm.
