Board Of Directors Approve Transfer Of Sale Of New York Dragons

NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Arena Football League Board of Directors approved the transfer of sale of the New York Dragons from CHARLES WANG to a New York-based investment group, led by STEVEN SILVA, at the annual ArenaBowl meetings today.

"Mr. Silva made a compelling presentation and the Board approved the transfer unanimously," said CRAIG SPENCER, co-owner of the Philadelphia Soul and chairman of the Expansion and Relocation Committee, which also oversees team sales. "Board members look forward to working alongside Mr. Silva for many years to come. The Board also acknowledged the hard work and investment that Mr. Wang dedicated to the Dragons, its fans and the AFL over the years, and wishes him the best in all his endeavors."

Silva, a Long Island native, said Dragons fans can expect a seamless transition.

"We are extremely pleased to have the Board's blessing and to be able to move forward with all of our exciting plans for the Dragons," stated Silva, who serves as the managing member of the investment group. "We are looking forward to working with the players and Coach WEYLAN HARDING to create a tremendous football experience for the fans."

Silva stated that the team will remain in Long Island, continue to play its games at the Nassau Coliseum, and intends to keep the key members of the current coaching staff and roster of players, including All-AFL defensive stars BILLY PARKER and HENRY TAYLOR.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
