Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have named Eddie Vowell fullback and linebackers coach and Pat O'Hara offensive coordinator, head coach and general manager Tim Marcum announced.
"We are excited to have Coach Vowell and O'Hara back on the sidelines with us," Marcum said. "Eddie has a great amount of experience to draw upon and Pat is familiar with our offense. They are tremendous additions to our coaching staff."
Vowell enters his eighth season as an Arena Football League coach and makes his return to the sidelines of Tampa Bay. Coach Vowell was an assistant coach with the Storm from 1998-99 and 2001-2002. He spent the past three seasons as the fullback and linebackers coach with the Austin Wranglers. Vowell was an assistant coach with the Grand Rapids Rampage for one season and head coach of Texas A&M-Commerce (formerly East Texas State University) for 13 seasons, where he was named Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year twice.
O'Hara returns to the Storm this season in a new role. The 12-year AFL veteran spent the past four seasons as a quarterback with Tampa Bay. He replaced an injured John Kaleo in ArenaBowl XVII to lead the Storm to a, 43-29, victory over the Arizona Rattlers in 2003. The former Buccaneer draft pick helped Coach Marcum with the offense the previous two seasons in preparation for his transition to coaching.
The 2007 Storm season, presented by Champs Sports, Where Sport Lives, will open on March 2 with the War on I-4 against the Orlando Predators at the St. Pete Times Forum. Former Storm quarterback Shane Stafford returns for his first game against the Storm. For tickets call 813.301.6780 or visit www.tampabaystorm.com.
