Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have signed wide receiver Hank Edwards off of the practice squad to the active roster, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today.
Edwards, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound receiver, earned a roster spot after an impressive open-workout. The Miami native played at Texas Southern University and led the Tigers with 679 receiving yards, 41 receptions and three touchdowns his senior year (2005-06). Edwards, a rookie, spent the first four weeks of the season on injured reserve before joining Tampa Bay's practice squad.
"We are excited to give Hank a look," said Marcum. "He is a young receiver with a lot of potential he just needs to get some experience."
With the departure of T.T. Toliver earlier this week Edwards will step in as the fourth receiver. Rookie receiver Karl 'the Truth' Williams will make his first start of the season this weekend against he New Orleans VooDoo.
The 2007 Storm season, presented by Champs Sports, Where Sports Lives, returns to the St. Pete Times Forum Saturday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m. as the Tampa Bay Storm take on their National Conference rival the Philadelphia Soul.
