TAMPA BAY - Former University of South Florida standout Terrence Royal was acquired by the Tampa Bay Storm, along with defensive lineman John Brown announced vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.

"Terrence is a team guy," said Gooch. "He's been with the Storm previously and understands Storm football. His track record and work ethic will be a tremendous asset to the team."

Royal (6-foot-3, 290 lbs., South Florida) returns to the Storm for his fifth season. To go along with his bruising blocks, Royal rushed three times for two yards and a touchdown in five games played for the Storm during the 2012 season. He is a versatile player that can play on both sides of the ball, adding much needed depth to the offensive and defensive lines.

Brown (6-foot-2, 280 lbs., Valdosta State) started his collegiate career at Northeast Mississippi Community College before settling down with the Blazers. The Lakeland, FL native started in 6-of-11 games. He recorded 22 tackles including two sacks for a loss of 14 yards and a blocked kick.

"John brings extra depth to the defensive line," said Gooch. "When the team pressures the quarterback we can create turnovers. We believe that John has the tools to help us succeed."

Storm defensive back Rod Issac has been reassigned.

Storm wide receiver Justin Hilton was placed on other league exempt.
