Storm Acquire WR Mark Jones

Tampa Bay - The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired wide receiver Mark Jones, announced Storm head coach Dave Ewart.

"Any time you can add a player with his level is experience is a plus," said Ewart. "Adding Mark to the roster makes us that much more competitive at wide receiver."

Jones (5-foot-9, 185 lbs., Tennessee) spent six seasons in the National Football League after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted him in the seventh round (206th overall) of the 2004 NFL Entry Draft. In 62 career games he recorded 159 punt returns for 1,483 yards, 71 kick returns for 1,669 yards and three receptions for 41 yards. During his career in the NFL, Jones played with the Tennessee Titans (2009), Carolina Panthers (2008), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2005-07) and New York Giants (2004).

A two-way player for the Volunteers, Jones saw action at both safety positions, wide receiver, punt returner and kick returner. He appeared in 49 games at Tennessee and recorded 36 receptions for 556 yards and five touchdowns with seven rushes for 65 yards. Defensively, he had 116 tackles, 10 pass breakups, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
