September 18, 2009 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Charlotte Stone Crabs News Release
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Charlotte Stone Crabs may have narrowly missed a Florida State League Championship on the field, but off the field, they finished the 2009 season atop the league standings in attendance with an average of 2,855 fans per game and 171,314 total fans through the gates in their Inaugural Season at Charlotte Sports Park.
Charlotte saw crowds of more than 7,000 on Opening Day and July 4 and set Charlotte County Minor League Baseball single-game attendance records during each of those games. The team managed to lead the overall attendance standings despite losing 10 openings to rainouts and drew almost 400 more fans per game than the second place team.
"This is a great start for our franchise," said Stone Crabs general manager Joe Hart. "We have the best fans in baseball, and we will continue to grow our fan base and give them a high-quality product at an affordable price."
The team employed a variety of promotions during their Inaugural Season schedule including fireworks displays, giveaways, food and beverage discounts and national entertainment acts. Popular weekly promotions like Thirsty Thursday ($1 drafts and $2 bottles), Seniors Eat Free Tuesday and Dollar Dog Night will all likely return next season.
Season Seat packages for the 2010 season are currently on sale and start at just $60 for the popular 10-Game Mini Plan. For more information, please call 941-206-HITS (4487) or visit www.stonecrabsbasball.com.
