THE SAN JOSE GIANTS...continue their homestand on Monday night with the opener of a three-game series against the Stockton Ports. San Jose won three-of-four games in their most recent series versus the Bakersfield Blaze to improve their overall record to 7-4. After losing a 4-3 decision in the series opener, the Giants posted victories of 8-2, 6-1, and 11-1. San Jose and Stockton (7-4) are currently tied for first in the North Division.

Dominant Starting Pitching...The San Jose Giants have received tremendous starting pitching through the first 11 games of the season. The five-man starting rotation of Tim Alderson, Jesse English, Kevin Pucetas, Ben Snyder, and Clayton Tanner are a combined 6-0 with a 0.91 ERA (6 ER/59.2 IP). Tanner, who was credited the victory last Sunday against Bakersfield, has yet to allow an earned run through his first three starts (17 IP). Snyder, who will start on Tuesday versus the Ports, has worked 12 innings this season without surrendering a run. The highest ERA in the group belongs to Jesse English at just 1.86. As a team, San Jose leads the California League in earned run average with a spectacular 1.94 mark.

Pablo Sandoval...Giants catcher Pablo Sandoval returned to the lineup last Saturday after missing four games with a minor wrist injury and the slugger has already made an immediate impact. In the two games since his return, Sandoval has rapped out four hits to improve his season batting average to a sizzling .560 (14-for-25). The 21-year old has connected for five doubles and two home runs to go with eight RBI. Sandoval also brings a 1.000 slugging percentage into Monday's series opener against Stockton. Last season, Sandoval earned San Jose Giants Offensive Player of the Year honors when he hit .287 with 11 homers and 52 RBI.

Playing With The Lead...The San Jose Giants have enjoyed playing with the lead throughout most of the early season. Through the first 11 games (100 innings), the Giants have trailed for just eight total innings.

Stockton Ports...The Ports, an affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, bring a four-game winning streak into Monday's series-opener. The Ports most recently swept a four-game series at Modesto. Stockton also features excellent starting pitching with the three projected starters in this series all owning ERA's below one. For the season, the Ports boast a 2.82 team ERA - second in the California League. Monday starter Henry Rodriguez has fanned 16 batters in his first 11 innings this season with just one run allowed. 20-year old Brett Anderson, who gets the ball on Tuesday, has fired 12 consecutive scoreless frames to begin his season. Offensively, the Ports are led by first baseman Sean Doolittle (.310 AVG, 3 HR, 14 RBI) and shortstop Archie Gilbert (.372 AVG, 1 HR, 4 RBI). Stockton is averaging just 4.3 runs per game.
