Arizona Sting News Release
The Arizona Sting edged the San Jose Stealth 10-9 at Jobing.com Arena on Saturday, ending San Jose's five game win streak. The Stealth led early but Arizona battled back to take the lead in the fourth quarter and withstood a late Stealth rally to capture their second win of the weekend. Dan Dawson scored four goals and added three assists for seven points to give Arizona the victory. He also scored the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter.
"This was a big win for us," said Dawson. "We got down early but battled back hard and showed what we're made of. This was a big weekend for us and we stepped up with two wins. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going down the stretch."
The Stealth scored the only goal of the first quarter and opened the second frame with four consecutive goals to take a 5-0 lead early in the second. However, the Arizona Sting answered with five goals of their own to tie the game at five all heading into halftime.
In the third period San Jose took the advantage as Luke Wiles scored the only goal of the frame, giving the Stealth a slim 6-5 lead heading into the fourth quarter. However in the final period, Arizona scored four consecutive goals and lead 9-6 with approximately ten minutes remaining and held on for the 10-9 victory.
Rob Blasdell made 30 saves to earn the win in net for the Sting, while Peter Lough scooped up 11 loose balls and won ten face-offs.
Arizona, who also beat Colorado on Friday, improves to 9-4 while San Jose falls to 6-6.
