Arizona Sting News Release
GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting General Manager and Head Coach Bob Hamley announced today that the Sting have signed midfielder Kevin Leveille as a free agent.
This summer, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound Leveille ranked second in the Major Lacrosse League with 39 goals while playing for the Boston Cannons. He tied for sixth in the league in points with 51 for the season. The Delmar, New York native scored seven goals in a game versus the Long Island Lizards on June 18.
"This is a very exciting signing for the Sting," said Hamley. "Kevin will bring his athleticism and passion for lacrosse to the Sting fans in 2005-06. He is a proven scorer in outdoor lacrosse and we believe that he can bring that scoring ability to the Sting."
Leveille was honored as the MLL's Most Improved Player in 2004 when he recorded 27-12-39 and tied for second in the league with six power-play goals.
"I'm thrilled to be joining the Sting," said the 24-year-old Leveille. "I've been in contact with Coach Hamley for a while and he's a great guy. My strength is my inside game and playmaking ability, so I think I'll be able to adjust well to the indoor game."
The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). In only their second season in the Valley, the Sting finished the 2005 season with a 9-7 record, winning the Western Division playoffs before losing to the Toronto Rock in the Champion's Cup Final.
