Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Monday the signing of forward Dan Dawson to one-year contract, pending league approval. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Dan is an elite player in this league and we couldn't be happier to be bringing him back to the Sting," said Hamley. "He's been a leader for our team both on and off the floor since we've been here and we know that he'll continue to produce for us at a high level."

Dawson is Arizona's all-time leader in goals (108), assists (132), and points (240). Last season the 6'5", 225 lb. forward led the Sting in points with 82 (34G-48A) while scooping up 76 loose balls and taking 142 shots on goal. In 2005, Dawson set a team record with 84 points (48G-36A) prior to leading Arizona to the Champion's Cup Final by registering 15 points (10G-5A) in three playoff contests. A two-time Mann Cup winner with the Brampton Excelsiors (2002) and Victoria Shamrocks (2005) of the Canadian Lacrosse Association, Dawson is looking forward to the upcoming NLL season.

"I'm extremely excited to be back with the Sting," said Dawson. "Management has made some great acquisitions this summer and we'll definitely be in good shape to make a run at the Champion's Cup in 2007. Arizona is a great place to play and I'm looking forward to another awesome year in the Valley of the Sun."

Originally drafted by the Columbus Landsharks in the sixth round (68th overall) of the 2001 NLL Entry Draft, Dawson has spent his entire career with the Landsharks/Sting franchise. In 75 career games, the 24-year old has totaled 139G-159A-298P.
