Sting re-sign Peter Lough to one-year contract

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Thursday the signing of team captain Peter Lough to a one-year contract, pending league approval.
"Peter Lough is a key part of this organization and we're thrilled to have him under contract for the upcoming season," said Hamley. "He brings a lot to the team in terms of leadership, dedication, and ability. Peter is definitely an elite player in this league, and we couldn't be happier to have him here in Arizona."
Lough has served as Arizona's captain since the team's arrival in the Valley of the Sun in 2003. The 6'3", 220 lb. defender has never missed a game during his tenure with the Sting, having registered 23G-26A-49P over the course of 48 regular season games. A two-time NLL All-Star, Lough was acquired in the first round (3rd overall) of the 2002 NLL Dispersal Draft from the Montreal Express. The 31-year old served as team captain for the West Division at last season's All-Star Game, which was played at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Lough is pleased to be returning to the Sting for the '07 season.
"I am very excited to be back with the Sting," said Lough. "We have a great group of players and a fantastic fan base in Arizona. It's definitely an enjoyable organization to play for each season. This year we can hopefully put it all together and bring a Champions Cup to the desert."
The upcoming season will be Lough's sixth in the NLL. In five full seasons with the Sting/Landsharks and Express, he has registered 39G-51A-90P in addition to 535 LB and 65 PIM. Last year, Lough tallied 5G-12A-17P for the Sting while scooping up 104 loose balls and winning 111 of his 255 face-off attempts.
The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Their home games are played at the Glendale Arena and their season runs annually from January-April. For more information, please visit www.ArizonaSting.com.
