Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting Head Coach and General Manager Bob Hamley announced Wednesday the signing of forward Matt Brown to a one-year contract, pending league approval. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are excited to have Matt back with the Sting," said Hamley. "We look forward to seeing him play a bigger role with the team this season and we know that he will continue to improve his skills as a player. He's a tremendous young man that we're proud to have in our organization."

Last season, his first in the NLL, Brown tallied 16G-19A-35P for the Sting while playing in all 16 regular season games. In two playoff games, the 23-year old native of Burnaby, B.C. registered 3G-2A-5P in addition to 8 loose balls and 8 shots on goal.

"I'm really happy to be coming back to the Sting," said Brown. "I learned a lot last season and I'm looking forward to continuing my career with a great organization that is really committed to winning. We have a lot of talent on our roster and we're really close to putting it all together and bringing a Champion's Cup to the Valley of the Sun."

Originally drafted in the first round (5th overall) of the 2005 NLL Entry Draft, Brown played junior lacrosse for the Burnaby Lakers, earning three Minto Cup titles (Canadian national junior box lacrosse championship) during his tenure there. The 6'1", 200lb forward also played NCAA Div. I field lacrosse with the University of Denver Pioneers. In four seasons with the Pioneers, Brown scored 113 goals (the fourth-most in school history) in only 56 career games.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Their home games are played at the Glendale Arena and their season runs annually from January-April. For more information, please visit www.ArizonaSting.com.
