
Sting beat San Jose, 16-13

Arizona Sting News Release
The Arizona Sting rallied with nine goals in the final quarter to beat the San Jose Stealth 16-13 in front of 6,043 fans at the Glendale Arena.
Pat Maddalena scored five goals overall, three in the final quarter, and Dan Dawson put in three goals including the game-winner to give the Sting their third win of the season.
The Sting came out strong in the first quarter scoring three goals and putting the Stealth on their heals. Momentum quickly shifted in the second quarter after Josh Sanderson and Jim Moss each scored two goals for the Stealth in a nine goal rally.
"We just weren't playing smart", said Sting head coach Bob Hamley. "We scored the first three goals and then after that we got brain cramps and that is what happened."
The Sting regrouped in the locker room at halftime and the comeback was underway.
After an even third quarter, the Sting came out and scored two quick shorthanded goals 28 seconds apart and the goals starting finding the back of the net from their.
Pat Maddalena took the game into his own hands scoring three of the Sting's last five goals to give the Sting a win and pull them to within ½ game of the Western Division lead.
"When we came in the room at halftime everyone was quiet, it almost sounded like a funeral", said the Sting's leading scorer. "I said lets just go out and work. Every single guy stepped up and that is what happens when we all come to play."
"For the young kids to come back in the second half and now they know that they can win any game they are in", said Sting head coach Bob Hamley. "This is the one thing about Lacrosse, you get on that roll, momentum builds and then you go."
The power play was deadly for the Sting tonight going 5 for 7. Cory Bomberry, Gewas Schindler, Dan Dawson, and Pat Maddalena (2) all scorched the Stealth's penalty kill for goals.
Mike Miron made 44 saves on the night for the Sting, many of them from point blank range.
